Gateway to the Kafue
National Park

Etched into the heart of Kafue National Park, Mukambi Safaris is one of the oldest camps in the park. Established in 1994, it began as a riverside lodge and has evolved into three thoughtfully positioned camps, each immersed in distinctly different landscapes of the Kafue.
From the river setting of Mukambi Safari Lodge, the experience stretches north to the vast floodplains of Busanga Plains Camp (Est. 2008), where open horizons and seasonal wetlands define the rhythm of the safari. It also reaches into the Miomba woodlands and lagoons of Fig Tree Bush Camp (Est. 2015), where elevated tents overlook a changing landscape of water and trees.

Together, these three camps unlock rivers, woodlands and plains — separate ecosystems that reveal the scale and diversity of Kafue.

Between the three locations you can participate in our range of activities to further enjoy the local flora and fauna. From game drives and boat cruises to the more intimate walking safaris or secluded star beds, you will find a different ecosystem in each camp.

For the Community

Mukambi's Philosophy

Family

Embarking on our Mukambi journey over 20 years ago, we have dedicated many years to making Mukambi the home-base that it is today. Through our reach we have been working towards making a difference for the Kafue and her local communities; giving back to the Park that has given us our home and livelihood.

Community

At the core of Mukambi and its
close-knit and familiar atmosphere is its community. Not only do we have the Mukambi Community School, providing a high standard of education to over 80 children, but we also have staff sports teams with regular matches against other local teams, and a few other local community projects.

Conservation

Conservation is key for responsible tourism and is a huge part of what we do in the Kafue National Park. Here at Mukambi we work closely with several NGOs, supporting them in their various conservation goals.

Sustainability

Mukambi recognises the importance of responsible tourism. As well as all three camps running fully on renewable solar energy and eco-friendly LiFePO4 batteries, we continuously strive to reduce our plastic usage, and grow what we can in our on-site vegetable garden.
